Tuff Lion on guitar for Dragonfly Taxi project

The week of May/first week of June (2012) I had the honor of hosting Tuff Lion at my home for a week of recording and gigging. The main purpose of his visit was to lay down some serious roots reggae guitar on my Dragonfly Taxi recording…and man, that’s what he did! I met Tuff in Kauai’i about 4 years ago when we taught at Reggae school. We had an instant positive connection and when the time came for guitar work on my reggae recording he came straight to mind. We had a hell of a hang: he settled into the guest bedroom in my apartment and for the next 6 days we did nothing but record, rehearse and reason about MUSIC, life and MUSIC. He did an amazing job laying down rhythm guitar on my original reggae tunes and played 2 killing solos, lending some real roots authenticity to the tracks. I was also able to have him play two gigs with Los Three and it was quite a pleasure to see Tuff nearly jump out of his skin with the opportunity to really stretch out on the gigs, playing long solos, and rising to the challenge of the music….stepping out side of his comfort zone and loving it. Go Tuff!! Next step for the Dragonfly is to complete some writing (lyrics mainly) and get all the vocals done, then to mix. Hoping to have the thing DONE by the end of Summer.

(ALSO, Sean and Winston came over to my studio a few months ago to record t more tunes: “Again and Again” and “The Material Shuffle” for a grand total of 11 tunes coming your way.)
