Egypt!

Today I am glued to my computer screen to this link, Al Jazeera and their live coverage of the revolution taking place now in Egypt. I am moved to the point of tears. I can feel the 30 years of a terrible spell being lifted. I am also moved by the POWER OF THE PEOPLE. I took only 18 mostly peaceful days to topple a dictatorship, well…l, I suppose it was 18 days plus 30 years. Nonetheless, it’s totally inspiring.

I can imagine a day when the people of the USA will rise up in a collective understanding that our laws have allowed giant corporations and banks to widen the gap between the rich and the poor for far too long. And on that day may we peacefully surround all the corporate and bank head quarters along with the White House and demand a much deeper Democracy than what we have right now.

But for the moment, I party with the Egyptians!

Blue Xmas – Gil Evans, Miles and Bob Dorough

OK, I just had to put this up. It’s been years since I heard it. Yea, ba humbug, it’s DARK, but really, this tune captures the side of the holidays I and so many others absolutely hate. Enjoy!

And, once you can extract yourself from the DARK SIDE, have a Happy Holiday!

Love,

Matt

Keith Olberman damn enraged about extension of tax cuts…..

…and so am I! Frankly, I can’t take it anymore. It’s time to build up a third party candidate with teeth and claws. The Republicans AND DEMOCRATS are wholly and hopelessly engulfed by the “insatiable MAW of Capitalism.”

(Sorry you have to endure a 15 second ad for some stupid BS before the piece comes on!!)

Bernie Sanders: economic war, Bob Marley: want more

Late November, 2010: Bernie Sanders the Socialist Senator from Vermont speaks of the war that will tear us apart. Check this out, then go directly to the YouTube link and read the comments if you want to witness the two sides of this war: One says, “Everyone has equal opportunity to become rich and successful, and the rich are the one’s who create jobs and prosperity for everyone else so let’s continue to give them more money and power, and if you are against that you will deny all forms of freedom on the earth,” and the other says pretty much what Sanders says here. Although this is not new to me, the stark and real landscape Sanders paints, I continue to be dumbfounded that anyone could support (amongst so many other misguided policies) any kind of tax cuts for the wealthy. The trickle down effect has never worked en masse so who can believe that it will now!?

NOW LISTEN TO THIS, FULL WATTS!!
